Tanya Clarke

DSPCA Head Dog Trainer

Tanya started off with the DSPCA by applying for an internship in 2013. Once graduating she continued on to becoming a full time care assistant in our Doggie Day-care facility and Tanya then became part of our Dog Training team.

Tanya is now one of our Head Trainers and Adoption Consultant in our re-homing center.

Tanya now leads our Level 1 and Level 2 group classes on site at DSPCA as well as leading human workshops and tutors our adult education course. She also looks after our Northside location at St. Catherine’s Park Lucan/ Liexlip and our most recent addition Millennium Park in Blanchardstown.

As well as this she also provides private training sessions to those who require a more tailored training plan or just to those who have a busy life schedule.

Tanya has an extra special love for misunderstood breeds and having struggled with two of her own, positive reinforcement and patients have greatly improved their quality of life. Making her very proud to be part of the DSPCA team.

Her most rewarding part of the job is seeing shy, fearful or nervous dogs grow in confidence.

Tanya’s love of caring for animals stemmed as a child from her Grandparents; with her first fury love being her granddads German Shepard Teddy who was never too far of a distance from her side while growing up, from then on in dogs have remained a big part of her life.

She adopted one very special staffy Roxy and soon after decided to take her passion & love for Dogs further. In 2010 began fostering; having had many paw prints placed on her heart, some extra big ones stayed and she now lives with a house of four. Roxy her number one side kick and aka “our pet hotel granny”; joined by Bruce a stubborn but soft pit-bull, an extremely nervous but sweet staffy Sasha & at last but not least queen of the house French bulldog Millie, with the biggest attitude of them all!

Some of you may already know Roxy and Millie from the part they do in education; accompanying Tanya on visits to schools and colleges and assisting her with our onsite kids camps.
